More music, more music, MORE MUSIC! Check out Amoramora at Beanstalk Music Festival 2018!
While kicking up dirt was a common theme all weekend, Amoramora‘s mid-day set caused a bonafide sandstorm. For the band’s debut on the Beanstalk Main Stage, the band treated fans to a set of debuts covers, debut originals and a hefty jam or two.
The set kicked off with a punchy “Spirit Of Adventure”, rousing the crowd with island tinged rock riffs and it’s infectious chorus. It then segued into a debut cover of the Police’s “Canary In A Coal Mine” which featured a brief drum solo before seguing back into the end of “Spirit Of Adventure” to the delight of the crowd. Next up was a solid version of “Little Spoon” featuring a blistering solo from Danny and seguing into the Bela Fleck classic “Big Spoon”. The band then debuted a new original called “22 Tattoos”, a folk-rock tune with an immediately memorable chorus. Good to see new songs peppering the sets. After a rocking version of “Oh Brother” (complete with “Poor Heart” lyrical quotes) was the segment of the set – “Rafiki’s Expedition > (I Have Seen The) Saucers” – the latter of which featured Chris Duffy from the Magic Beans, narrations and the best improv moments of the set. Duffy’s bass solo alone is worth the price of admission. The band closed everything down with the tune “Siesta” which reminded me of a California surf-a-billy tune and proved a concise closing statement for the ripping set. Amoramora are great at setting a tone for their sets and this one was a thorougly enjoyable and high-spirited romp through a windy-ass island. Solid showing from both the band and their fans in throwing down the sandblasted rager.

Show Notes: This set was performed on the Main Stage at the annual Beanstalk Music & Mountains Festival.
[1] “Canary In A Coal Mine” was a Amoramora debut performance and “22 Tattoos” was a debut original.
[2] “Oh Brother” contained vocal quotes from “Poor Heart” (Phish).
[3] “(I Have Seen The) Saucers” featured Chris Duffy (The Magic Beans) on bass and wearing a squid hat.
Taper Notes: FOB slightly right of DFC. Mics raised around 9′ PAS. There were brief mic problems during “Canary In A Coal Mine” (vocals weren’t coming through board or audience mix) but they’re eventually fixed. This was possibly the windiest set I have ever taped and can sometimes be heard rumbling on both mixes. Board feed thanks to Shrink!
Thanks to Amoramora and Beanstalk Music Festival for being cool with taping/sharing live shows. Go see live music and support local musicians! #spacetapes
