Your day could probably use some mind-blowing guitar layered over vibrant synth tones, eh? Check out Jaden Carlson Band headlining Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom (Other Side)!
For the debut of their new album “Keep It Movin'” the Jaden Carlson Band threw a party at Cervantes’ Other Side filled with new music, impressive sit-ins and a polished sound. The band came out of the gate swinging with a medley of originals that weaved in-and-out of each other with a tight punch before easing into the dreamlike cover of Snarky Puppy’s “Big Ugly”. Jaden’s tone was in top form and her chops were as on-point as ever; no longer behind the synth, tonight Carlson had her guitar face on.
The entire show is a highlight reel showcasing the new album, classic JCB tunes and one of the best sit-ins I’ve seen all year. After a high-energy rendition of “Far Horizon” and a “Dataless” which contained an incredible solo; the band invited up opener Isaiah Sharkey to play some guitar. This led to what might just be my favorite jam of the year. LISTEN to the Isaiah Sharkey sit-in. Two masterful guitarists trading licks for one of the most solid 15 minutes of music I’ve seen at Cervantes.
The entire set was played with poise; soulful solos, punctuated transitions and melodic songwriting, ushering the Jaden Carlson Band into a new era of live improvisation and introducing a new album brimming with fresh material to the Denver live music scene. Congratulations to the band on this huge achievement!
