Phish phans are exceptional. While some fans of other bands may pre-game a few hours before the show, we pre-game an entire night with a tribute act, just to stretch out a bit. DeadPhish played to the anxious pre-Phish-Vegas crowd, pulling together two sets of cleverly mixed Dead-Phish tunes that managed to satisfy any fan of the two prolific groups. From the opening one-two-punch (eh, pun INTENDED) of “Punch You In The Eye > Eyes Of The World” to the “Black Throated Wind > Divided Sky” – the band excels in crafting set lists that expand not just on wordplay but also flow the dynamics of the music of two very different bands, into each other without being jarring. The ending of “Feels Like A Stranger” perfectly syncing up with the final jam of “Split Open And Melt” and the vocal jam in YEM mimicking the riffs of “St. Stephen” are all great examples of the band’s ability to find the common thread in-between these epic works and weave them together with a natural feel. Great two sets of music to send off a crowd ready for Phish Halloween- Enjoy!
