How does it feel….to get new #MusicMonday?! Check out my pull from Let’s Danza‘s Disco Biscuits after-party!
As a taper, I’m a big sucker for two things: sit-ins and super-groups. They’re the types of events that really help make a show unique and always made me seek out a recording in my younger years. After The Disco Biscuits burned down the Fillmore you’d think drummer Allen Aucoin would want to rest up before round 2 the following evening but if you actually thought that, you don’t know Allen Aucoin. The jamtronica drum pioneer provided the fiercest backbone any late-night set of any genre needs to grab a crowd by the throat and yell “Let’s Dance!”. The band’s sound is pretty straight forward: a little bit of disco, a little bit of electronica and a whole lot of jamming. This proved to be a winning recipe for the late-night crowd wanting to push the limits of where the night could take them. The band played with intensity, barely pausing in between songs and constantly peaking their jams with heavy battling synths and bumping drum and bass beats. All you really ever need from a great band is great dancing music and Let’s Danza embodies that about as well as any band in the scene. Definitely check these guys out the next time they’re in town…bring your dancing shoes.
Let’s Danza! | 2017-11-17 | Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple, Denver, CO
One Set: Jam -> Year Of The Horse, Big Blue Apples[1] -> Bottlecap -> Big Blue Apples, Getaway Somehow[1] -> One Rabbit Race (Brothers Past)[2]
Show Notes: This set was performed as an official after-party for the first night of a two-night run from The Disco Biscuits at The Fillmore.
[1] “Big Blue Apples” and “Getaway Somehow” featured teases from the “Rick & Morty” cartoon series main theme.
[2] Only the end part of “One Rabbit Race” was performed. This was also a debut performance for Let’s Danza.
Taper Notes: FOB DFC PAS mics raised around 8′. Very talkative crowd likely due to this being an after-party.
Thank you to Boone Riddle, Let’s Danza and Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple for being cool with taping/sharing shows. Go see live music! #spacetapes
