Happy Friday! Pre-game your evening right with some free music courtesy of Phour Point O!
This was an opening spot for Hayley Jane and the Primates, so the band didn’t have their norma two-set slot. Luckily this didn’t stop them from playing a blistering set which started with a segue-fest coming out the gate strong with a “Llama > Mike’s Song > Simple > Weekapaug Groove” combination. I’ve been loving Phour Point O‘s interpretations of “Mike’s Song”, especially their exploration. Mike Pedersen‘s guitar had a little extra bite thanks to him using his personal amp and it shows throughout the night’s solos. “Llama”, “Weekapaug Groove” and “Julius” really highlight some fantastic tone that really helped drive the band throughout the evening. “Suzy Greenberg” featured a drummer swap as Ryan Clausen from Hayley Jane and The Primates sat-in for an exploratory version of the stadium rocker. Hayley Jane loaned her vocal talents to a solid rendition of “Back On The Train”. Her vocal lines gave some new welcome perspective on the phish standard. After well executed version of “Horn” and “The Lizards” I figured the band was done but they surprised the crowd with a welcome version of “Cavern” that had the entire crowd roused and singing along. Another great set that while compact still found space to explore and do proper justice to the coveted phish catalog.
