Can it be? Is it #MusicMonday? It is! Check out Amoramora headlining Boulder Theater!
This was my first time at the annual “Microbreweries For The Environment” Festival. It was a crazy amount of microbrewers crammed into the Boulder Theater, giving away all the free samples you could drink! If that wasn’t enough, the night was filled with fantastic sets of music from quality local Boulder bands. The headliner was hometown favorites, fresh off their spring tour…Amoramora!
The band started the set off like true entertainers with a rocking rendition of the anthemic sports-stadium-staple “Rock ‘n’ Roll Pt. 2”. The crowd was immediately engaged, erupting in one unified “Hey!” after another, setting the mood for the rest of the set. Immediately the band then segued into my personal favorite AM tune “Hooper’s Hotel”. After a solid version of “Coming Back” the band took a more bluegrass turn with “Foggy Mountain Top”, “Window To The Stars” and then a fiery version of “Oh Brother” which featured some stellar mandolin work from Jack Cloonan. The segment of the evening was definitely “Rafiki’s Expedition > Earth Jam > Spirit Of Adventure” which took several deep improv turns and featured Cody Whales from Magic Beans adding some flavor on the drums. The “Robber’s Roost > Siesta” bit was no slouch either and also featured Cody Whales for a portion of it. The set closed with a speedy version of The Weather Report classic “Birdland” that served a perfect closer for the high-energy set. A ton of free beer and a hefty set of Amoramora? Sign me up every time!
