Mississippi Moonshine falling on the treeline with some more #FreeMusic on this #TaperThursday from Flash Mountain Flood playing at Moe’s Original BBQ Englewood!
This one is a doozy – a short set but certainly jam-packed. The set opens with a monster 20+ minute original called “White Lightning” that will absolutely make you a believer. The jam is patient, peaks several times and generally shows off a band clearly in-sync with each other and comfortable taking a jam the distance. I gained a new respect for this band from this jam alone. The song itself is very well written and has a classic feel that will make and Dead/Allman-fan feel right at home. After that massive segment the band played a high-energy blues-rock original titled “Timeless” which made use of some solid slide-playing and was another well-written tune with a nostalgic feel. The set closing “Hey Pocky Way” launched into its own dark foray into psychedelic improvisation, pushing the last few minutes of the band’s set to more exploratory levels. It was great to see the band taking these kind of risks and while short, this was easily my favorite Flash Mountain Flood set I’ve witnessed. Kudos to them for bringing the heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥
