It’s #TaperThursday and on the eve of the tree holiday, check out some #FreeMusic from Moonlight Bloom headlining Moe’s Original BBQ Englewood for their “Walking Trees EP” release party!
For the release of their new EP, Moonlight Bloom put on a true party. For starters, shout out to CAT Scanners who put on one of the coolest light-shows I’d seen in a while. They projected paint within liquid and would shuffle it around to create some truly memorizing visuals. This really fit well with Moonlight Bloom‘s blend of psychedelic garage rock. The band performed all the songs off their new EP as well as some old favorites to a packed crowd of fans eager to hear the new studio work. The band certainly delivered, executing the title track “Walking Trees” with ferocity and a raucous outro jam that really helped set the mood for the rest of the set. The jam highlight of the evening happened early on as they invited Flash Mountain Flood‘s Paul Copoulos to sit-in on keys for a ripping version of The Allman Brothers classic “Whipping Post”. The jam took several turns from intense psychedelic whirlwind wind to blissfully light dream voyage to triumphant peak then back into the dark frenzy that builds the outro jam. Paul’s keys really helped frame the intense solo work from Moonlight Bloom‘s Charlie Harmon. The set flowed well as the bands sound expanded from laid back groovy reverb-rock jams to more psychedelic garage rock with hints of blues and even some jazzy overtones. Loved their instrumental tracks like the “Temple Jam > Light Burst Jam” segment as well as “Smoothy” which was a tune of the recently released EP. Also really enjoyed “Whole” which seemed to have so many different layers from the vintage rock verses to the indie sounding choruses and then the psychedelic garage rock outro complete with a “Take Five” tease? Awesome. Congrats to Moonlight Bloom on the stellar new EP and the raging party!
