Did you know that lack of music is the #1 cause for jealousy in ghosts? Make sure your specter has soul with some new music from Mr. Specific!

On a sunny front range day, music fans and those tired of being cooped up inside, joined up at the Clear Creek Valley Park to celebrate the end-in-sight of the pandemic with a day of free music. The Clear Creek Valley Park Amphitheater is a sight to behold; a public stage built on the bank of a small man made lake, providing a view of the open water reflecting the beautifully big Colorado blue sky. A vista that reminds you why even a random free concert in Arvada is always an experience.

Mr. Specific helped provide the soundtrack for the day with a tight set of original material and a few teases peppered in for taste. The opener, “Jealous Ghost”, provided the perfect aural mood to float the crowd into the set, while the following tune, “Two Weeks”, provided the punctuated pop, calling to the crowd’s focus with each palm-muted note, as well as a tongue-in-cheek nod to Destiny’s Child with a brief tease of “Jumpin’ Jumpin'”.

The band seemed to never leave their groove throughout the set, from their elegant maneuvering of “Purple Turtle > Smile Attack > Purple Turtle”, the nuanced runs of the aptly named “Posturetute”, or the fierce attack of “Chaffed Nipple” (complete with a Britney Spears tease), the band delivered a focused set of music that felt like a beacon of light turning on after a year and a half lost at sea, guiding everyone through the end of this pandemic tunnel.

Music, especially music that is heavily instrumental, can sometimes evoke the most visceral of human responses. Mr. Specific is what plays in your head when you’re trying to make an important decision, or when you’re reflecting on something big that just happened. The music is an examination on note placement, a contrast of rhythm, and a purveyor of medley. That sounds pretty specific, but that’s Mr. Specific to you.

Show Notes: This show was performed at the Clear Valley Creek Park Amphitheater as a part of their free concert series. Splendid Blend opened the show, followed-up by Mr. Specific, and then Knifty Kick.

[1] “Two Weeks” contained a portion of “Jumpin’ Jumpin'” (Destiny’s Child).

[2] “Chaffed Nipple” contained a portion of “Baby One More Time” (Britney Spears).

[3] “Cactus” contained a portion of “Harvest Moon” (Neil Young).

Taper Notes: Setup on-stage, DFC around 10′ infront of the drums. Board feed was mono. Audience mics were setup DFC raised around 6′ and around 20′ from the stage PAS. There are some slight pops/clipping near the middle to the end of the set from one of the tom drum mics, which was having issues. It was coming through the PA so unfortunately I wasn’t able to do much about it.

Thanks to Mr. Specific for being cool with taping/sharing shows – Go see live music BECAUSE WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!! #spacetapes

If you dig it - share it!
