The last #TaperThursday of the year – enjoy some #FreeMusic courtesy of Phour Point O at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom(The Other Side)!

Right out the gate, Phour Point O hit the crowd with their rendition of “Axilla (Part II)” – the estranged brother of “Axilla (Part I)”. The last time Phish played this tune was in ’95. Of the 38 times it was ever played, 34 were in 1994. Needless to say, the song is a rarity that Phour Point O has adopted as their preferred version. A galloping guitar solo propelled by soaring organ chords led the band into a nice little Type II segment that brought us into swampy regions. Next up was “Mike’s Song” which also contained a brief journey into improvisational space before seguing into “Run Like An Antelope”. After a fiery take on “Llama” and another solid rendition of “Horn” the band took out their newly learned version of “Harry Hood”. The execution was pristine as the band communicated fluidly, loosely following each other without over-stepping. The build to the outro, the key to any great hood, was patient and exalted. Next up was “The Lizards” which was pretty straight forward with the exception of a brief little jam that came out of the build to the outro. Completely spontaneous but inspired all the same. The set closed out with the a ground stomping version of “Julius” that had the crowd singing along with every step. Fantastic quality on the pull thanks to the fantastic Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom(Other Side) sound system and FOH engineer Shrink. Thanks for the patch!
