It’s #TaperTuesday and you look like you haven’t been ‘necked in a while. Let’s change that…check out Turtleneck performing at Your Mom’s House!

After a 7 month break, Turtleneck makes their triumphant return to the stage at Your Mom’s House bringing a regular-shirt-collar’s-length-and-then-some of funk. The band opened the show with a rocking version of “Yield Not To Temptation” paying homage to the late jamband patriarch Col. Bruce Hampton who passed a little less than a year ago. After a brief issue with a broken kick-drum pedal, the band performed an original instrumental titled “Hydrosonic” which had an extremely catchy chorus riff and a swampy octave reverb jam. For a band that doesn’t play often they kept solid communication through the tune and subsequent jam, trading solos and resolving the to the hooky riff nicely. The whole show packed with jamband staples like The Meters’ “Pungee”, Little Feat’s “Skin It Back” and The Allman Brothers’ “Whipping Post” which were all executed very well. But frankly the highlights for me were their originals. I really dug their super accessible riffs like in “Hydrosonic”, “The View” and “Oracle”. Awesome set – hope to see them play out a bit more, maybe show a little more neck so-to-speak.
