Today feels like a funky day indeed…check out The Elegant Plums performing at Spread The Word Music Festival!

The Plums got things started on a dreary-windy day with their original tune “Funky Day”; a bit of a consolation for the cold fans that had braved the weather to see some awesome local music. Next up was another feel-good tune “Strange High” which could place you somewhere in SoCal if you just closed your eyes. The Plums kept the crowd warm as they urged them to go crazy for their song “Bad Habit” which they were filming for a music video. The song then segued into a powerful version of Bill Withers’ “Use Me” which once again helped the crowd forget about the weather and just dance. The band kept pushing forward full throttle as they went through solid renditions of “Stops”, “Soggy Tots” and one of my favorites “Amamos” which is a Latin-inspired rager that will definitely make you fall in love. The next song “Medicine” is another one of my favorites by the Plums – a beautifully infectious chorus with a high falsetto break that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The set ended just as it began, a full-on party. The “Plum Juice > Billie Jean” segment sat very well with the crowd and was cause for the first sing-a-long of the evening. The Elegant Plums are a party and a half even on a rainy day – that’s something special indeed.
