I have yet to walk away from an Electric Beethoven set with anything less than pure amazement. The band’s dedication to exploring and improvising over the works of one of the world’s most famous musicians/composers of all-time is incredibly ambitious yet through master musicianship and pure intention, pays-off bountifully for all those lucky enough to be in attendance. If you chose this set for your 4/20 experience, congratulations, you chose wisely! Reed Mathis exudes such positivity and leads the group without ego, which is absolutely essential when improvising over these epic segments. It’s hard to write-up these EB shows because the whole ritual transcends analysis. The compositions have been analyzed note-for-note for longer than most any other pieces of modern music so really improvisation seems like the most logical evolution of the music. The improvisation adds a whole new dimension to music that continues to transcend the test of time. Honored to be able to capture these moments and share them.
