This #TaperThursday ritual isn’t over yet…how about another dose of Electric Beethoven at Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple!

For the second night of their two-night run at the venue, the band decided to perform a ritual in it’s entirely. The long-form “Eroica” was a captivating segment of epic exploration through, as Reed put it best, “Beethoven’s story of going deaf, writing a suicide note and then not going through with it. Which as a metaphor is something we could all stand to heal from so hopefully over the course of this symphony all of us will be physically healed together…you know what I’m saying?” – Holy shit Reed, yes. Yes I do. Electric Beethoven taps into something very beautiful about improvisation; somewhere jumbled in between masterful musicianship, respectful reverence to the art they’re interpreting and Reed’s message, Electric Beethoven speaks to the essence of what makes music great. You may think its odd or even silly at first to refer to Beethoven as a shaman, but listen to this set and realize this was a man who made music over 200 years ago. His music has transcended time, genre, class, creed, culture…and you are grooving to it being performed by musicians who understand the healing power of music. I think I can buy it. Another instant classic set that will have me re-listening and recommending to friends for years to come.
