Leftover Salmon | 2018-05-05 | Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO [AUD]

A Monday after a weekend this epic is pretty brutal but don’t you worry, #MusicMonday is here to get you through. Kick back and enjoy my pull from Leftover Salmon co-headlining Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre!

Leftover Salmon exploded out the gate with a fiery version of “Ants In My Pants” to start off what was guaranteed to be an epic night of music. After just releasing their new album “Something Higher” the previous day, the band was ready to celebrate with a rowdy Red Rocks crowd ready to take in, for many, their first show of the season. Next up the band went through a stellar rendition of “High Country” which was the title track from a record they did with Little Feat keyboard Bill Payne. After a solid run through “All Night Ride”, the band played one of my favorite Salmon tunes “Boo Boo”. The tune was met with dancing feet and raised drinks as the sun set over the hill. The band then proceeded to celebrate the release of their new album “Something Higher” by running through the record in its entirety. A lot of great material, highlights for me included “Analog”, the nice jam in “Astral Traveler” and the Jeremy Garrett (who plays fiddle for the Infamous Stringdusters) sit-in for both “Foreign Fields” and “Game Of Thorns”. The new tunes felt very well received as the crowd thoroughly got down to every song. After the new record was played, the band treated the crowd to a sit-in of legendary proportions as Phil Lesh sat-in for two tunes to the roaring delight of the crowd. As if that weren’t enough, the band then delivered two more classics to send off the crowd, unaware that they would end up sitting in for first two tunes of Phil Lesh. Congrats to Leftover Salmon for the fantastic set and the new album, the songs sound great!
